BOOMBOX: Kylie Minogue Rules!
By Dante White

Australian, dance diva Kylie Minogue hits the world this month with a brand new remix album entitled, BOOMBOX.  The record contains some of her greatest hits remixed to perfection by some of the world’s best DJs.  Dance club luminaries include Chemical Brothers, Fischerspooner, Mylo, and Sebastien Leger.  The album represents the hottest tracks from this mega-superstar’s twenty-one year career, with special attention paid to those hits made since 2000 right up to the present day.  BOOMBOX also is one of the first releases of 2009 and is now available to buy in stores and online!

BOOMBOX tracks consist of the following:

1. Can't Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head (Bootleg with New Order)
2. Spinning Around (7th District Club Mental Mix)
3. Wow (Death Metal Disco Scene Mix)
4. Love At First Sight (Kid Creme Vocal Dub)
5. Slow (Chemical Brothers Mix)
6. Come Into My World (Fischerspooner Mix)
7. Red Blooded Woman (Whitey Mix)
8. I Believe In You (Mylo Mix)
9. In Your Eyes (Knuckleheadz Mix)
10.2 Hearts (Mark Brown's Pacha Ibiza Upper Terrace Mix)
11.On A Night Like This (Bini & Martini Mix)
12.Giving You Up (Riton Re-Rub Vocal Mix)
13.In My Arms (Sebastien Leger Vocal Mix)
14.The One (Britrocka Remix)
15.Your Disco Needs You (Casino Mix)
16.Boombox (LA Riots Remix)

Standout tracks include the Studio 54 meets Grace Jones, “Love is Drug” mix of the title track Boombox mixed by LA Riots.  This mix is so futuristic, you will think it’s from the year 2109.  The Bootleg with New Order mix of Can’t Get Blue Monday Out of My Head is worth the price of the CD alone.  This dance gem is so hot; you will think listening to it must be illegal.  The pounding beat is funky and has a rhythmic undertone that is sex in the city.  The mix for I Believe In You will make you forget that this song is actually a ballad and has a delightful mid-tempo beat that relaxes.  And speaking of sex, the mix for Slow will make you look for a tissue, a cigarette, and a pen to write down your trick’s phone number.  This song is always sexy, but this Chemical Brothers Mix is totally x-rated, yet classy.  Track 13, In My Arms, kicks hard and Sebastien Leger takes Kylies siren-like vocals and projects them to an electro punk mix.  The mix for the song Spinning Around is nothing short of a shot of post-sex adrenaline that is sure to make the most butch, closet case, weekend homo, dance hall stud take his shirt off and jump around (and he’ll be humming it in his cubicle come Monday morning).  This song has a great hook that pulls you in and makes the listener feel the pulse of being in both a disco and the front row glamour of a high fashion runway show.  Then my favorite is Come Into My World (track 6). The Fischerspooner Mix takes Kylie’s voice and shoots into the hyperspace.  Fischerspooner is a genius and he takes Kylie’s stunning vocals and creates a sound that is one part now, and another that is decades ahead in the future.  This mix was performed in her X2008 tour to an anime Geisha meets matrix stage show.
The album is superb and for dance music fans in the US not familiar with Kylie’s work, this is great introduction to the sexy vocal stylings of Ms. Minogue.  Australia’s finest export since Hugh Jackman and Coogi sweaters, Kylie’s BOOMBOX is a dose of sugar mixed to a sizzling electronic dance beat that is guaranteed to keep you moving.  Although the beats are sweet, Kylie is no pop tart.  With this album she resonates nothing short of pure diva.  An adult, funky, yet incredibly down-to-earth queen of dance that is sure to delight club goers who are 18 and those who are a little bit closer to Madonna’s age and can remember seeing Andy Warhol at Studio 54.  A singer with powerful vocals and has the vision and talent to attract the world’s premiere DJ producers.  This is one dance compilation remix that you should add to your collection this year.
